New Holland, PA - March 12, 2021 – MODLOGIQ, a leader in off-site construction of commercial modular buildings, is proud to announce the “Best in Show” award for Permanent Modular Construction at the 2021 World of Modular Annual Conference & Tradeshow went to the Good Samaritan modular emergency room built in our factory! Our partner, Axis Construction Corporation, was the general contractor and entrant for the project.
“We are so proud of what this project represents to the Good Samaritan hospital and the front-line healthcare workers who desperately needed it at the height of the pandemic”, says Jim Gabriel, General Manager at MODLOGIQ. “Collaboration is one of our core values and the key to a successful Off-site construction project. John Buongiorno and the entire team have been incredible partners in our long history together. I cannot think of a better way to wrap up the 2021 World of Modular Conference. MBI put on a great virtual event!”
The video highlighting the Good Samaritan Pediatric Emergency Room Expansion won “Best in Show” for Marketing. The project was also recognized with an Award of Distinction for “Permanent Healthcare under 10,000 SF.”
In just 90 days—from the start of structural steel work to delivery—MODLOGIQ manufactured and Axis Construction finished site development for the new Pediatric Emergency Room wing at Good Samaritan Hospital. Installation took less than 2 days and finish work, including MEP and HVAC connections, was completed for opening 3 weeks ahead of schedule—during the pandemic!
“Once the pandemic hit, it created an even bigger need to have private, dedicated rooms for children who need emergency care, so the project was sped up,” explained Dr. Christopher Raio, Chairman of Emergency Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital about the only Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center on south shore of Long Island.
The ER expansion features structural steel beams, poured concrete floors, and a brick exterior facade housing 10 patient rooms and two isolation rooms plus nurses station, on-call rooms, clean rooms, consulting rooms, visitor restrooms, and more.
Thanks to our “Build Together” process, about 85% of work was completed at the MODLOGIQ plant, including the brick veneer. Patient rooms were finished to the final coat of paint, including fully-installed medical gas systems, head walls, floor-to-ceiling glass doors, electrical and lighting, and flooring. Despite all the challenges COVID-19 presented, the project came in early and on budget.
