Matt had to meet the rigorous standards of a CPE: minimum 5 years of estimating experience plus passing multiple ASPE exams testing his knowledge of quantities, cost reporting, ethics, contract terms and conditions, etc. In addition to the General Estimating Knowledge Exam (GEK), Matt had to successfully complete Discipline Specific Tests (DSTs) in practice areas such as General Contracting, Mechanical, and Electrical Estimating.
