Overview

Assist in the preparation of concise and accurate cost estimates in a timely manner working with Sr. Estimator. Assist in gathering sub-trade quotes and information for review against bid specifications and drawings to ensure a successful bid. Create and maintain all electronic files.

Duties & Responsibilities / Requirements

  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, procedures, rules, and regulations always.

  • Assist in preparing bid packages for sub-trades.

  • Assist in the detailed review of plans and specifications against sub-trade quotes.

  • Attend Hand-Off Meetings when required to assure a smooth project review and order transaction.

  • Be a team player.

  • Collaborate with Sales to obtain pertinent data about projects being quoted.

  • Coordinate sub-trade RFI’s and clarifications with Estimating Team.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction and promote outstanding customer service.

  • Learn to produce timely, concise, and accurate takeoffs.

  • Learn to develop Scope of Work sheets for Team review.

  • Properly schedule your estimating activities to meet bid dates for each project.

  • Research products and materials.

  • Secure quotes from subcontractors and specialty vendors as necessary.

  • Track down unique materials and material sources for the estimators.

  • Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors.

  • Work with the Estimating Team to meet tight deadlines for bids.

  • Treat all employees, customers, and contacts with dignity and respect.


EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Basic blueprint reading; must be able to read, comprehend, understand, interpret, and evaluate blueprints, details, technical specifications, schedules, and/or technical manuals.

  • Basic knowledge of Building Codes, Construction, Estimating and Materials.

  • Basic knowledge of methods of construction, procedures, practices, materials, equipment, tools, precautions, and safety.

  • Develop team skills.

  • Minimum 1-3 Years’ work experience related to construction or fabrication; construction materials.

  • Minimum High/Technical/Trade School graduate with strong math skills or years of equivalent experience.

  • PC proficiency in a Windows® environment, especially in Excel, Word and Outlook and other trained software applications.
